BACKGROUND

Christina Barr, L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her clinical training and practice includes TCM Psychology, Internal Medicine, Pain Management, and Oncology.

Her approach to acupuncture has continued to develop through years of working with patients whose symptoms don’t always fit neatly into a single category. That experience has shaped the way she practices today: looking closely at the whole presentation, identifying the underlying pattern, and adjusting treatment based on how the body responds.

ABOUT CHRISTINA

Christina didn’t originally set out to become an acupuncturist. After seeing firsthand how much a modality based on the principles of acupuncture and homeopathy could change her daughter’s health, she began looking for a profession that would allow her to build a new career while keeping motherhood at the center of her life. What started as a practical decision quickly became something much more. She fell in love with the medicine and never looked back. As someone once joked, the universe may have simply punked her into becoming an acupuncturist.

Since beginning practice in 2018, Christina has worked with hundreds of patients and continually refined her approach through experience, assessment, and reassessment. She is naturally curious, observant, and interested in what sits beneath the obvious. She takes the time to explain what she is seeing, offers different perspectives, respects boundaries, and works with each person from the information they are ready to share.

APPROACH

Christina listens to what a patient is experiencing and pays close attention to what the body is communicating alongside it. She looks for the disharmony in that picture and the underlying patterns contributing to it, rather than treating symptoms in isolation.

Her primary focus is internal medicine and pain, with treatment guided by the individual presentation and response over time. Acupuncture is often combined with other Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities, including Tui Na, cupping, moxibustion, and herbal medicine, when indicated.

PHILOSOPHY

Christina believes that the body is constantly communicating, and that symptoms can give us valuable information about what is happening beneath the surface. Her role is not to impose an explanation, but to listen, identify patterns, and help patients understand what their bodies are telling them.

For patients who choose to explore beyond the physical, that same attention can extend into behavioral patterns, emotional experiences, beliefs, and the ways we learn to respond to life. The depth of that work is different for every person, and it follows the individual rather than being prescribed.
